L.Q. GRIFFIN b.1821-SC

I am searching for the parents and or any siblings of Lazarus Quin Griffin. He was born 1821 in SC. According to census records his parents were born in VA. I have not found him in an 1860 census. Records show that he acquired a land grant, June 1, 1860, in DeSoto Parish, LA. He is listed as a slave owner and paid taxes on 9 slaves in DeSoto Parish in 1861. He is listed in the 1870 and 1880 census of DeSoto Parish, LA. His three oldest children were born in AL. Jesse W., b. 1848, Zachary Taylor, b. about 1850 and Melvina Evelyn, b. 1853. Mary, William Isaac, Joseph Albert, Katherine, Claborn and Alabama were born in LA.

The Alabama Land Patent Database, Pickens County, list Lazarus Q. Griffin acquired 2 land grants, both with same land description, in 1854 and 1858. I believe him to be the same Lazarus Q. Griffin found later in LA. Other Griffins receiving land grants in Pickens County, AL were Adino, David, Goodman, William, James M., and Benjamin J. If anyone knows anything about any of these guys, please let me know. There could possibly be a connection of some sort between them.

I would appreciate any help....

Thank you,
Audrey
