Hi Evelyn -- don't know if you're still there since this is a very old posting. I rarely look at the County postings. However, I am descended from the Benjamin Johnson family that also came from Cocke Co., TN and had a number of intermarriages with Wheats. Elizabeth Johnson (m. James Hendricks) and Louisa Johnson (m. Thomas S. Wheat, son of John Wheat, Jr. and Sarah Sturdivant) are sisters of Benjamin Calvin Johnson, my gtgtgrandfather. These are children of Benjamin and Peachy Johnson. Peachy may have been a 2nd marriage and Elizabeth possibly dau. from a 1st marriage. I don't have any info to clarify that. Irwin Johnson, another sibling m. Julia W. Sturdivant. George B. Johnson, son of Benjamin C., m. "Hassie" Sturdivant. I have additional data on the Johnson lines, but as you say, these folks are difficult to get straight. If you have any interest in them, would be glad to exchange info.
