There is a book on this Heritage family. I haven't seen it yet, and I don't know if it answers this question. My uncle has a copy, and I hope to take a look at it soon.
In the meantime, here is a clue:
John Massie Heritage (b. 2/19/1856) was a son of Henry Freshwater Heritage and Nancy Massey Heritage. He married Martha M.N. Seymer, daughter of Mrs. Rhosa Seymer of the Spring Hill Community. John and Nancy named a child (possibly the first born) Elizabeth N. Heritage.
