Yes. His name was James Earl I believe. The J.M. initials were of two separate gentlemen that at last account had the original letter. I's sorry if I said my great great grandfather was J.M. The letter evidently went to one J.M. Richarson of Pickens county who was a nephew of the letter's writer. He gave it to his nephew the other J.M. Richardson. The way I even know about the letter is my grandfather James Pierce Richardson was always very much interested in History and he was shown the letter maybe in the 1970s or early 80s and typed it on his typewriter while the man was visiting Texas at my grandfather's home. I have the copy of my grandfather's typed letter he sent me in 1983. I found out about this genforum and realized that there may be a chance that someone could locate this fairly valuable piece of family history and with current technology, I'd like to get a color copy for my own records. I would also like to find more about my great great grandfather's actions in the civil war. My grandfather told me a couple of the stories. He was very close to his grandfather who lived with him in Lytle Texas until J.E. died in 1915. My grandfather was born in 1902 and was 13 when his grandfather died. He said on J.E.'s deathbed that he mistook my grandfather as a recruit for the civil war and commented that they were sending them too young. Well, I see that you are located right where all this part of the Richardson family is located or were. If you find anything I would appreciate help. I'm in Texas.
