I am looking for the origins of John T. Harris (b. abt. 1833--TN) who married Theresa Woolley (1839-1912?)in 1859, the daughter of Green Berry Woolley of Perry County, AL.
John T. Harris was a civil servant and worked as a tax collector and in the sheriff's office of Perry county in the 1870-80's. I cannot find him or his wife in the 1900 census.
In an older posting on the ALBIBB Rootsweb Mailing list, an Irma J. Roy presented the following information:

I have not been able to reach Ms. Roy to obtain more details about the information she presented.
Some observations about the above data:
1. The Emeline Woolley referred to was a spouse to Abel K. Harris. The implication is that Ms. Roy thought Abel K. Harris may have had an earlier spouse. Emeline Woolley and Abel K. Harris were married in 1834 in Perry Co., AL.
2. The R.S. Harris referred to above was Robert Spring Harris, a son of Abel K. Harris and Emeline Woolley. He was born in 25 Jul 1836 in Bibb County.
3. Abel K. Harris was born in South Carolina in about 1802 and is on record as purchasing land in Perry County, Alabama in 1826. There is no record of him ever living in Tennessee, but that does not mean he was never there. Perhaps he had a wife in Tennessee before he moved to Alabama. He married Emeline Woolley when he was in his 30's, so he certainly could have been married before.
Is John T. Harris the son of Abel K. Harris as is postulated? Where in Tennessee did John Harris come from?
