Nannette, thanks for the info. Skip actually got a copy of the license on one of his trips to AL. The handwritten name appears to be NUNUM and that is the name used on their son's tombstone, too - JOHN NUNUM JOHNSON. For some reason, her family gave the Newman name a different twist. Skip also found a couple of other marriages, one performed by Jerry F. Johnson, that we suspect were relatives of Harriet: Eliza Neumun - D.L. Carr in 1870 by JFJ Bettie Newmun - W. R. Metcalf in 1868 by a JP If you have a record of all the AL marriages, perhaps you could find more. Do you know if the Alfred Johnson living with John Daniel in 1850 in Perry Co was your Alfred? Following the DANIEL clue led me to several family names that appear wherever we track Jeremiah and Harriet - WILLIAMSON, COLEMAN, WOODALL. There is a Benjamin Knapp Newman in Dallas Co, AL whose relatives include HEARD and WORRELL. Are you familiar with it? I've posted more thoughts on Perry Co Johnsons on my familytreemaker site. Have you seen that file? Would appreciate your thoughts on it. Thanks for your help. Notify Administrator about this message?
