The 1860 Census of Perry County, Alabama shows an Ann Stokes who was the widow of John Stokes whom she married on September 21, 1839 in Perry County, Alabama. The children are listed as M. J.- 18 (f), James-17, William-14, F. A. 12 (f), John 9, and Robert 6. Ann owned four slaves in 1860 and owned property valued at $4,500. [1860 Perry Census, page 525, family 128]
