Thank you for your message. I am searching for the
marriage record of James Simpson Hemphill and Abigail
Williams. I found a record where James S. Hemphill
was a witness to an Irvin will in Perry County in 1835.
Another record says he and Harvey Tyndall built "the
first store in this settlement in 1829"(this was Newbern
in Greene County(later Hale County). The oldest child
of James S. and Abigail(Emily) was born in 1830 according to
her obituary. My guess is that the marriage was about
1828 or 1929,but just a guess. The father of James S.,
William Hemphill received a land patent in Greene(near Newbern)October 1,1835 Thank you for your interest.
