Ancestor Swap Meet
The Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society will host it's annual
ANCESTOR SWAP MEET 2011 Saturday, April 16, 2011 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM.
The speaker for the Swap Meet will be J. Mark Lowe, CG, FUGA.Mr. Lowe
is a full-time professional genealogist, author, and lecturer.He is an instructor
for the IGHR (Samford University), SLIG (UGA), and RIGSA.
The topics for Saturday are "Developing a Research Plan Workshop" - using real-life
examples and patterns from busy professionals, learn how to make research plans that
work for you.Acceptable standards, resources and examples will be emphasized.
The second topic will be "Cemeteries as a Genealogical Resource" - learn more from
our ancestors through gravestones and cemeteries.Registration includes a catered lunch,
vendors and door prizes.
Other events prior to the Swap Meet will begin Wednesday, April 13th, 10:00 AM -
12:00 PM Grave Dowsing Class conducted by Wayne Gregg and from 1:00 PM -3:00 PM a tour of a local historic cemetery where participants can test their technique.
Nichols Memorial Library will be open from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM for researchers.
Thursday, April 14th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM the society will host a "Mini
Beginner's Family History Class."Nichols Memorial Library will be open for
researchers from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
On Friday, April 15th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM the library will host a
"Family History Scrapbook Class."Mark Lowe has volunteered his time to
conduct one on one consultations for 15 to 20 minutes.For additional information

Mark Lowe will conduct a workshop from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the library.The
title of the workshop is "Is It Really Online?Finding and Using Original Sources
at Home and Library."
