Thomas Palmer
Hello,
I am looking for any information on the Thomas Palmer who appears in the 1860 Montgomery County Census. He is listed as being in the 1st Division and is on page 126 or 12b (it is hard to read) in the census, he is listed as being 24 years old and his occupation is an overseer. The only other person in his household is a Francis Palmer who is a female aged 21. Both are listed as being born in Alabama. I am not sure if this Francis is a wife or sister. I believe this is the same Thomas Palmer who appears in the 1870 and 1880 Butler County Census listed as Thomas J. Palmer. In the 1870 Butler Census, he is married to an Anna J. His occupation while in Butler is a physician in the city of Greenville. I believe this to be the same man due to the civil war records. A T.J. Palmer enlisted as a surgeon in company A, 15th Battalion Alabama Partisan Rangers. Most of the men from this company came from Montgomery County. This unit was later consolidated into the 56th Alabama Partisan Rangers/ Cavalry/ Mounted Infantry. Any information on this individual will be greatly appreciated.
