My ggrandfather, JOhn Clark Tomlin, married my ggrandmother,
Roxie Catherine Jackson in Montgomery County, Alabama in 1879. In 1880 census of Dooley beat Montgomery County, it shows he and his mother were born in Georgia and his father in North Carolina.

In 1881 my grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, was born . I understand that John Clark Tomlin died when Roy Laiten Tomlin was a small boy. His mother, Roxie, remarried James R. Conner in Macon County, Alabama in 1888 in the home of her father, Isaac F. Jackson. Isaac Jackson's family was in Montgomery County at the time of the 1880 census. I do not know when the family moved to Macon County. But around 1890 or shortly afterwards they all moved to Texas. The Jacksons settled around Gonzales County, Texas..

My grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, married Hattie Bell Duke
and the lived the the Hays-Travis County area of Texas until 1917 when the family moved to Beaumont due to the Spindletop oil boom.

My grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, died from burns due to an explosion at Magnolia Refinery in Beaumont, now Exxon Mobil. This was in 1920. On my grandfather's death certificate with my grandmother as the informant, it shows Roy Laitten Tomlin was born in May, Alabama (which could be Macon County) and his father was born in Minton, Georgia.

John Clark Tomlin was shown as 23 on the 1880 census.

I have tried for 25 years to find out what Tomlin family he came from. I do not know when he or his family moved to Alabama. I do not know exactly when he died or where he is buried.

If anyone has any information, it will be greatly appreciated.
