I am trying to find information on a Mary Ivins who was born in July 1797 probably in New Jersey. Her father was Solomon Ivins. An 1840 document relating to Solomon’s Revolutionary War pension lists his children – one of whom was Mary Gauger (or Gager) who at the time of the document (1840) was listed as living in Louisiana. This document lists her birth as July 1797.

I did not find information about her in Louisiana but I did find a family that might match living in Mobile. Here is the information I have:

1840 census, Mobile, Mobile County, Al - a William D. Gager appears.

1850 census Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama

Wm D. Gager, 57, laborer, b. NY
Mary Gager, age 50, b. NJ
L.D. Gager, age 26, b. Tenn, laborer
Sarah A. Gager, age 22, b. Al
Antone Gager, age 4, b. Al
Mary Jane Gager, age 6, b. Al
John Gager, age 24, b. Al, engineer
Roxanna Gager, age 23, b. Al
Rothusa Gager, age 19, b. Al
Abby Ann Gager, age 15, b. Al
Wm. D. Gager, age 13, b. Al
Rothasa Gager, age 12, b. Al
Joseph Gager, age 20, painter, b. Al

1860 census, Mobile, Mobile County ,Alabama

Wm. D. Gager, age 24, clerk, b. AL
Emily Gager, age 20, b. Port au Prince
Mary Gager, age 60, b. NJ

Household immediately ahead of them on the page

John Gager, age 36, engineer, b. AL
Louisa Gager, age 40, b. AL
Lavinia Gager, age 7, b. AL
Louisa Gager, age 6, b. AL
William Gager, age 2, b. Al

Wm D. Gager, age 24 in the 1860 census may be the may be the William D. Gager who was a 2nd lieutenant in the 12th Alabama Infantry, Comany I, during the Civil War.

1870 census, Mobile, Mobile County, AL. Mary Gager, age 69, b. NJ appears living by herself.
A Wm D. Gager, blacksmith, age 77, b. NY also appears in the census living by himself.

1900 Census, Mobile, Mobile County, NJ showed a William D. Gager as born May 1836 in Alabama and listing his father as born in NY and mother born in NJ.

Did Mary Gager die in Mobile in or after 1870? Any information on her and/or this family be appreciated.
