Hurricane Katrina

While New Orleans and the Mississippi coast had much more damage from Hurricane Katrina in terms of loss of life and property, Mobile also took a major hit. Many homes were flooded or destroyed in south Mobile county. And many people here are desparate for the basics we all take for granted.
In addition, we took in many refugees who fled New Orleans and coastal Mississippi and cannot return home.
The city has ground to halt and we are under a dusk to dawn curfew. Distribution centers are starting to hand out ice, bottled water, and food, but the need is greater than the supply. Gasoline is also in short supply to power generators and get the city moving.
The power is slowly coming back on and we are starting to recover. Mobile is a beautiful city and we will recover but it will be a slow process.
If you would like to help, PLEASE make a donation to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army so they can help us and our sister Gulf Coast cities recover faster.
And thank you for all your prayers.
