I'm not sure that this is the John I am seeking, he was born 1864. I have no idea if he had any family. Our lore goes that he went to Mobile in the 1880's to "live with family", part of the family heard he died, but my Grandmother (who died in 1982) told me that around 1900 several family members went to Mobile, from Pensacola, and visited him, only to be insulted by him, so they had no further contact with him. Guess he must have really been rude, for some of them to consider him dead.

Many thanks, will keep looking.
