HARRIS-Help?-Lawrence County AL. ?
I have been searching for my g-grandfathers full name and possible location of where he came from.
All I have found is a little sketchy, His name was John L. (Louis or Lewis I think)(6/14/1828 - _/_/1891 Lawrence Co. AL- bd Pine Torch Cemetery) and this is the earliest record I have of him living in AL.:
J.L. Harris originally owned land in Lawrence County, Alabama in Township 8, Range 7 West, Section 20. This first 40 acres recorded in Lawrence County was obtained in October 1876, with additional 40 acre parcels granted in Oct. 1877, and Dec. 1890.
His wife's name was Mary C. (I think it was Mary Catherine Garrison (1/14/1845 - 8/3/1899), but unconfirmed at this time).
John L. Harris and M. C. had 7 children. William R. (Will), M.C., Sally, Frances Clarentine (Fannie), Mary Elizabeth (Molly), Liza A. , and John A. The earliest of these children, I have being born in 1862 and I think they migrated to this area from Lawrence or Giles Co. TN.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
