Dennis Family Members fleeing Morgan County AL in 1860-61;
William Granville Dennis (1848-1920)was one of the oldest surviving children of Granville Henderson Dennis and his wife, Mildreth Ann Lewis Dennis. Granville, his father, was born in Viriginia, and his mother, Mildreth, was born in Alabama.
William Granville (also known as W G) relocated to central Texas probably around 1880, possibly Tarrant County in the northern part. In one of the census records, the dates and place of his birth match exactly as the Family Bible. He married and had a number of children. One was Sterling. I live in Texas and hope to be able to reconnect with Dennis descendents which I have not been unable to do since the family of Granville Henderson Dennis and his wife, Mildreth Lewis Dennis, fled Alabama, in 1860-1861, fleeing from the invasion of Morgan County, AL, where history records the burning of homes, farms, and lands.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks,
Jerry Dennis
