Yikes was my first thought after reading your latest!I asked my Mom if she ever heard of a Bat Burford and she said no.With a name like Bat, you'd think that would have been an easy name to remember.
I happened to locate Gladys' parents and 2 older sibling in a 1900 Census in Montgomery County, Radford City, VA.I would assume that Gladys could easily have been born in Radford, VA.
I went back and looked at the 1910 Jefferson County, Birmingham, Alabama Census which shows that Gladys and all of her siblings were born in Virginia with the exception of the youngest, Katherine who was born in Alabama. The 1910 census also states both of her parents were born in Virginia.
The 1920 census you located with Gladys and Bat shows her parents to be born in Alabama.Hmmm...I do know mistakes were made off and on with census reports, so who knows.
If this is my Mom's Aunt Gladys, did the family's back in the 20's disown you for marrying a cousin?I know Gladys' Father did not disown her seeing that he visited her from time to time.My Mom was born in 1926 and was around allthe way up to her late teens and never met Gladys or heard anything about her.
Gladys' estimated birth date would have to be some where around 1900 depending on when her birthday came around seeing she was listed as 10 years old in 1910.
I must admit this is a challenge.Question marks are flying all around me.
I want to thank you again so much for all your time and effort. My Mom asked me to thank you from her as well..:)
If you happen to come across anything else, please do not hesitate.Always look forward to reading what you encounter.
Sincerely,
Sunshine Schwarz
