I am trying to find a way to find Membership in Churches in Calhoun Co. Alabama--- Oxford and Anniston- before 1920. Can anyone tell me how to do this. It is handed down info in family that my Great-Grandmother Nancy Ann Logan Tritt and two daughters went to Al. to live with her son William (Will) Tritt. I know his family lived in Oxford in 1800. Also ,I know that one of his sisters was found there in the late 1800's and her marriage record is registered there to a Mr. Gains. I cannot find her afterwards nor ever find the mother Nancy Ann Tritt there. I was wondering if I could search old Church records in Calhoun Co. if I might find her that way. Her father's family in Ga. and N.C. were Methodists.Does anyone know which are some of the oldest churches in Oxford or Anniston. Later Will Tritt moved his family to Birmingham and is found there in Census records and City Directories until his death in 1956-57. At no time can i find anymore about his sister and never anything in Al. about his mother Nancy Ann Logan Tritt. He lost his Father during the Cival war.At that time the family lived in Union Co. Ga.where my grandfather John Jefferson Tritt stayed and reared his family. Please can someone help me search Church records in Calhoun Co. Al. before 1820?
