I took a look at your family on Trees at Ancestry. You have him married to Francis G..
Could this be them?

Ashville, St. Clair, Alabama

Take a look at it for i'm not sure if his birth year is 1820 or 1830, I beleive it's 1820.
This is what is printed after census was read.

Pincney M. Hale/head/69/ June 1831 Al/Al/Al
Fannie C. Hale/wife/56/ Feb 1844 SC/SC/SC

Looks to me like her name is Faynis C., could they mean Francis?????
That's all I came up with so far. What do you think?
