You're totally right, I should have posted on the VA board and I intended to, just didn't - no excuse other than I was up too late!
I can't say for sure, but I didn't think those Shaws in Culpeper Co. on the 1850 census were the same - our Shaws were on the eastern shore of Virginia, most of are them still in Accomack Co. But maybe that is the same William H? (You can trace William H. Sr's wife Tabitha Martin's lineage back to the mid-1600's all in Accomack Co., which I think is so interesting.)

William H. Shaw Sr.
M, b. circa 1838, d. 6 January 1907
William was born circa 1838 at Accomack Co, VA.1 He married Tabitha Martin on 5 December 1866 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. Shaw, a 28 year old sailor, born & living in Acc Co and she was shown as Tabitha Martin, age 18, also born & living in Acc Co, the daughter of Geo. & Eliz'th Martin. They were married by J.E. Bundick. Although this shows his birth and current residence as Acc Co, his birth location was probably not Acc Co, because there were no Shaws listed in Acc Census from 1840 thru 1860, nor in Northampton, Somerset or Worcester Counties in 1850..1 William died on 6 January 1907 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA.2

M, b. 1877, d. 23 April 1931
William was born in 1877 at Accomack Co, VA.1 He was the son of William H. Shaw Sr. and Tabitha Martin. He married Susan W. 'Susie' Smith on 6 December 1899 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as William H. Shaw Jr., a 21 year old single farmer, the son of Wm. H. Shaw Sr. & his wife Tabitha and she was shown as Susan W. Smith, a 18 year old widow, the daughter of Wm. T. Smith & his wife Vetting(?) S..2 He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1910 at Hammock's Road, Acc Co, VA.3 William died on 23 April 1931 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA. Mr. William H. Shaw, aged 53 years, husband of Susan W. Shaw, died at his home at Sanford on 23 Apr 1931. Funeral services were at Sanford Methodist Ep. Church conducted by the Rev. F.T. Fulcher. He was survived by 7 children, 3 sisters and 3 brothers, all of which were listed (E.S. News, 1 May 1931)..4 His body was interred at Downing's Cem, Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.1

The correct spelling is "Etmon" as this name continues today in our Shaw men's names. The Etmon above (married to Mabel) was my father-in-law Wayne's father, he died of cancer at age 39 when my FIL was 12. Etmon had two other children, Brooks and Carole, both still living in Accomack County. Wayne's sons are Brent Etmon (my husband) and Bruce Wayne, and our son is Connor Etmon. Etmon's wife Mabel remarried Page Reade in the mid-1960's, she is still alive and well at age 92 living in Melfa, Accomack Co., VA.
