William H. Shaw Sr., Accomack VA, b. 1838 - England?

We're trying to figure out my husband's Shaw lineage, relating to William Henry Shaw Sr., especially how and where he came to the U.S. His lineage descends from William Henry Shaw Sr. to William Henry Shaw Jr. to Etman/Etmon Wayne Shaw to Wayne Etmon Shaw to my husband Brent Etmon Shaw.

My husband has found that William Henry Sr. fought as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War in the 8th Alabama; we don't have any evidence that he was born in Alabama. In fact, this is where we're stuck - where was he born and who were his parents?

We can trace (see http://espl-genealogy.org/Miles7/p14.htm#i834) back to William H. Shaw Sr., b. abt. 1838, d. 6 Jan. 1907, married to Tabitha Martin 5 December 1866 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. Shaw, a 28 year old sailor, born & living in Acc Co ... Although this shows his birth and current residence as Acc Co, his birth location was probably not Acc Co, because there were no Shaws listed in Acc Census from 1840 thru 1860, nor in Northampton, Somerset or Worcester Counties (eastern shore of MD) in 1850.

So I found an 1841 census in Parish of Alveston, Warwickshire, England (http://www.hunimex.net/warwick/freecens/1841/41125.html ) and found a "Wm. Shaw" aged 3 which would fit our William H. Sr.'s birth year. It lists his parents as Charles (age 48) and Elizabeth (age 41), and he had 5 siblings.

Does anyone know if our William Henry Shaw Sr. of Accomack VA is this same Wm Shaw living in Warwickshire, England at age 3? Any help would be most appreciated!
