Looking for info. on the ADAMS Family from Freedonia, Alabama

I am looking for info. on the ADAMS Family from Freedonia, AL. Their Son's name was Joshua Page Adams. He was born in June, 1901, in Freedonia. I believe that his Father was Joshua Mahallis (it could have been George, not sure?) Adams. I do not know Joshua's Mother's name. His Father was murdered in 1917 or around that time. I would like to know any other info. on this Family as well. I was told that the Family came from England in 1750, traveling to Boston. I was also told about a large piece of property that was owned by the Adams Family that had the Chattahoochee River running behind it. Also that during the Civil War, Soliders from the North tried to take the house from them, but they didn't get it. If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it. I am trying to piece all of this together, to find out what's true. Thanks for your help!
