This follow-up is a bit late, but in case you're still looking: J. M. Browning was James Madison Browning,Sr, son of John Browning and Jane (Jana) Hawkins. James Madison Browning was b 10/29/1824 in Charleston, SC; he d. 2/26/1910 in Clay Co, AL. Both he and his wife Anastasia (Annie Stacie)--take your pick--are buried at the Old Gutheries' Chapel Church Cem. in Clay Co, AL. A Browning reunion is held each year on the Sunday before Labor Day in the old church (built in 1875). My husband and I have attended it for the last two years--Just left there this afternoon. James Madison B. and "Stacie" Coleman were my great-great grandparents on my mother's side.--Sidney L I have as born 10/1871 in Clay Co, AL. He and Lela Smith md in Clay Co 12/18/1890. Sidney is buried, I believe, at Gutheries' Chapel also. I have a long list of their children which may or not be same and yours. Sorry that my records are not too certain today--I always talk to new people who straighten out errors for me at reunion; then I forget half before I get back to my room. (I live in FL). Reply if you want to share more--or send me an e-mail.
