William W. MORGAN- 1843, Bibb Co., AL, - Elizabeth DAVIS or DAVIES

William W. MORGAN was born in Virginia between 1790-1800 and died in Bibb County, Alabama in 1842 or 1843. His estate was administered in Bibb County, Alabama, starting in 1843. His widow's name was Elizabeth and in one of the Estate Administration indexes at the courthouse, she was referred to as Elizabeth DAVIS or DAVIES (although I believe in the IGI this same William is identified as being married to an Elizabeth MOORE).

William was a schoolteacher, judging by the assets in his estate (paper cutter, for instance) and the fact that debtors owing for schooling are mentioned. These debotors included:
Elener Cotes (Coates?)
Moses Parker (refuses to pay)
James W. Davis
J.S. Cleveland
H. Raupeau
J.S. Kenady (Kennedy?)
Didamiah Henry
William Davis
Williams Caddell
Margaret Sneede

In the 1840 U.S. Census for Bibb County, William is on p. 109a, as is a Hardy DAVIS, William DAVIS, and Graham KINNARD (Kinard). I believe that William MORGAN was the father of Winsa (Winnie) MORGAN who married Graham Kinard's son, Daniel Kinard. I also believe that George M. MORGAN is William's son and possibly had other sons: Enoch and North MORGAN. George MORGAN married Lequincy MELTON and both his family and the Winsa Morgan Kinard family ended up in Union Parish, Lousiana, then Union County, Arkansas areas in the 1850s and 1860s, respectively. Winnie was widowed in about 1858 and then re-married her dead husband's brother, Jacob Kinard, and then later moved to Wise County, Texas. George apparently stayed in Union County, Arkansas area for the remainder of his life. He was a merchant of some sort.

I'm trying to learn of William Morgan's ancestry and that of his wife Elizabeth. There is a Nancy Morgan in Bibb County in the 1840 Census who is about 80-90 years old; she could be William's mother. Based on other census records, this Morgan family apparently moved from Virginia into North Carolina by the 1820s when George and Winsa were born. They then migrated into Bibb County, Alabama in the 1830s.

I have other information about the George Morgan family and Winnie Morgan Kinard family that I'd be happy to share with anyone interested. Would love to hear from anyone else researching any of these MORGANs. Can anyone help me out with their ancestry? Winnie Morgan Kinard is my wife's great-great grandmother by her son, Andrew Jackson Kinard.

Thanks,
Greg Boyd
