William Henry Edwards was born October 10, 1886 in Woodland, Texas. He married Salley Mae Cheshire who was born May 14, 1886 at Rugby, Red River County, Texas. They were married south of Rugby, Texas on August 8, 1905. William is supposed to be full blooded Cherokee.

One of their daughters, Frances Melissa Edwards, was born October 3, 1920 in Rugby, Red River County, Texas. She married John Willis Bennett, born Milton, Lamar County, Texas on December 15, 1917. They were married in Hugo, Oklahoma on August 4, 1935.

William Henry Edwards' parents were Robert Greene Edwards (born about 1850 in Missouri) and Harriette Patti White (born about 1856 in Arkansas). "Hattie" White's father was W. H. White, born about 1819 in Virginia. W. H. White's wife Catharine was also born about 1819 in Virginia. Salley Mae Cheshire's (William Henry Edward's wife)parents were Jasper Newton Chesshire and Lucy Frances Hale.

His family is supposed to be part Cherokee also. Again, I cannot find this out either.

John Willis Bennett's family is also supposed to be part Cherokee. His father was William Thomas Bennett (born abt. 1887) whose father was John William Bennett and his mother was Lizzie Green. John Willis Bennett's mother was Minnie Ira Munk (born about 1891 in Alabama). Her father was Salles Willis Munk (maybe Silas) and her mother was Mathilde Ann Murray.

Many of these were supposed to be part Native American.

If you have information on the names from Virginia, it would certainly help me.

God Bless. Kathryn Jung
