I am looking for leads re: the military record of Thomas Benton Files who served in the Union Army during the Civil War. B. Aug 12 1839 in Blount County,AL; m. Martha Jane Feltman, Feb 1, 1856 in Walker County, AL; d. March 1, 1905 at Carbon Hill, Walker County, AL. What unit of the United States Army? I know he was wounded and captured; released at the end of the war and returned to Walker County before January 1869. Thanks for any leads.
