When and where was John born? Would he have been on the 1870 census? Birth places are not always accurate on the census records, but Illinois does not usually just slip into Alabama!

I checked every white William Duncan in Alabama, regardless of birth place, who was old enough to be head of a house (19 and older). I only found one, other than the one I previously posted, who had a wife, Mary.

Tallapoosa County, Youngsville Beat:
William Duncan, 38, GA
Mary, 31, GA
George, 18
William, 14
Sallie, 10
All children born in Alabama.

I'm sorry I did not find the one you seek.
Faye
