I felt it necessary to post the reply that I received from Lisa Larner. I give her full credit for this information. My family and I greatly appreciate her efforts and finding. Thanks Lisa! Danny A. Hembree ********************************************************** Error on my part. Post was listed as Wiston County. Should have been Winston County. Danny Hembree ********************************************************** Date: Fri, 5 Dec 2003 22:42:51 -0500 From: "Lisa Larner" <LLarner@msn.com> To: <dannyhembree@afo.net> Subject: hembree I went ahead and did some further checking for you to verify what you found. I first got the 1870 census and then I had a suspicion about something so I went and checked for the 1880 census to verify what I thought. It was correct. 11 July 1870 Anderson Co., SC--Rockmill Township--page 650B REMMER Lucinda Mrs.--61--keeping house--SC HEMBREE Sally H.--34--in the family--SC Susan T.-17-SC Andrew J.-16-SC Lawson F.-13-SC Wynny R.-8-SC (female) NOTE--my suspicion was that Lucinda REMMER was Sarah/Sally's mother. You can see from the following 1880 census that it's correct. Also note that the child Lucinda HEMBREE age 1 on the 1860 census that you found has died in between the 1860 & 1870 censuses. 1880 Anderson Co., SC--Rockmill Township--ED24 REMMER Lou--68--SC HEMBREE Sarah--43--dtr--SC Susan--grand daughter--SC Josephene--5--great grand daughter--SC Both Lawson and his brother Andrew are living in Anderson Co., SC in 1880 also. I didn't view the census for Andrew but I did for Lawson. Here is his listing: 9 Jun 1880 Anderson Co., SC--Savannah Township--ED23 written as HORMBREE Lawson--23--SC Lucy--18--wife--SC Here's a little helpful tidbit for you to keep in mind during your research. Lot's of women named Sarah went by the name Sally/Sallie and women named Mary sometimes used names Molly/Mollie or Polly/Pollie. Hope this helps, Lisa p.s. I attempted to post again at the message board but they were messed up so I couldn't at the time, so I wrote this instead. Notify Administrator about this message?
