Looking for information about my grandparents and generations before. My grandfather was Joseph Equiller (Quillar) McKinney born in MS on 05/09/1879 d. 03/26/1944 in Birmingham, AL.
He lived in Bessemer at the time of death. He was buried according to his obituary in the Greenpond Cemetary. His grave is unmarked; would like to know a percise resting place so I can put a marker.
According to my grandfather's death certificate his father was Ed McKinney, birthplace Kentucky and his mother was Rebecca Backnell birthplace Alabama.
J.E. McKinney married the second time my grandmother Minnie Pearl Bracknell born in Bibb Co. Alabama on 11/08/ 1892 d. 10/09/1936 buried in Eoline at Little Hope Cemetary.
My granmother was Minnie Bracknell and her parents were Levi Deason Bracknell 03/01/1858 d. 02/24/1932 and Lavicy Primrose Foley 04/28/1855 d. 07/13/1914.
Some of Minnie Bracknell's brothers and sisters were: William, Sammie, Spencer, Molly, Nancy, Tincey, and there may be more.
Minnie Bracknell's grandparents were William Brackner (later known as Bracknell) and Mitilda C. Deason. Have information that she was born on 07/29/1840 married on 01/08/1844 d.07/05/1913.
Matilda's father was William Wiley Deason born on 02/08/1807 d. 09/06 1901 (his father was Edmund Deason Sr. and his mother was Esther Cato) Matilda's mother was Nancy Caudle (her father was Stephen Caudle Sr.)
Matilda had a previous husband named Henry Owens and they had children.
J.E. McKinney was married before Minnie Bracknell, I don't have a name of the first wife but would like to have it. They had a daughter named either Clara Irene or Clara Rene McKinney.
J.E. McKinney and Minnie had at least four children. Herbert B. McKinney (my Dad), Fred L. McKinney, and Henry L. McKinney. A baby daughter died shortly after birth. I don't know if she was named or not.
According to his obituary, J.E. McKinney had these brothers and sisters: John McKinney, Ed McKinney, Fred McKinney and Willie Mae McKinney Russell of Greenpond, AL. Two other sisters were Lema McKinney Channell and Cuba McKinney Burroughs of Buhl, Al.
Any information on the family tree would be appreciated.
