Location of ANSIN, ALABAMA

I am looking for the location of ANSIN, ALABAMA. My Wife has an old letter which states that her ggrandfather was born in "Ansin, a few miles from Birmingham". I have tried several resources by no luck.

I have posted in other forums. Most responses mention "Anniston, Alabama" as being "Ansin". But I doubt that a "a few miles" would equate to about 60 miles which is the distance from Birmingham to Anniston (especially in the 1880s).

If you have any info on ANSIN please reply.

Thank you,
Russell & Dorothy Ries
