Hello. I am looking for about my Great Uncle, Columbus S. Hand. He is originally from Heard Co., Ga.,in 1874 or so. He migrated to Alabama and ended up in a place named,Red Apple, in Marshall Co., Alabama. He married two times, the 2nd wife's name was Minnie L. Maiden name unknown .
His brother was named, Let R. Hand, my great grandfather. Columbus was also known as ,"Uncle Darlin'" by my Aunt Nell, who was his niece. He traveled to Talladega to take care of my grandmother,Ollie Mae Hand - Thompson Fowler. She was really sick once, and he drove from Marshall Co. to Talladega, to help her. Ollie Mae was adopted by William A.Thompson in Jacksonville, Alabama in 1900. Her own sister, Beth {aka Bertha as she is later called} was adopted by Columbus S. Hand.
Columbus S. Hand, by family accounts, was a handsome, well dressed, kind man. I am hoping someone knows his burial place. If anyone is kin to Columbus, please, let me talk with you. -Sincerely, Lisa Williamson.
