Gunter/Ditto relationship
The Ditto's and the Gunter's(Guenter) were on the Passenger Lists of ships bearing Hollanders coming into settle in Pennsylvania in the mid-1700's. Subsequent records show Peter Gunter as a Pennsylvania Deutch as one of the earliest pioneers living among the Indians in the back country of Virginia (see Wust).Later on the great bend of the Tennessee River, arriving about the same time and probably in the late 1700's, were the Ditto's, and we find John Gunter, married to an Indian lady. Were these German pioneers the ancestors of our local early River settlers?
