Charles,On a present day map, locate Guntersville and follow US Hwy 431 north across the Tennessee River to the junction of US Hwy 431 & AL Hwy 79.Follow Hwy 431 on toward Huntsville. The next major intersection is the road that goes to the right, to Grant, that is County Rd 63.Still on Hwy 431, Cottonville is on Hwy 431, about 4 miles to the west (toward Huntsville) from the Grant Road.Your map may show Honeycomb.Cottonville is less than 2 miles west of Honeycomb.Honeycomb & Cottonville are on the Northern bank of Guntersville Lake/Tennessee River.
Now - My old county maps do NOT show that this area was ever a part of Blount County. This area was a part of Madison County AND Jackson County in the 1820s-1830s.Marshall Co was established in 1836 BUT, the county line continued to change until about 1860.The area we are talking about could have also been in MORGAN County in the 1840s & 1850s.My maps aren't detailed enough to nail it down for certain, but the Marshall - Morgan County lines did change in that general area.Hope this helps.Rick
