On 1850 Cencus of Clarke Co.,Al I find my
great-great grandfather James Madison Smith.
and his brothe, William S. Smith, living with
Mary Anderson,87 born in S.C. James Madison
and William S. 16 and 10 respectively born in
Ala. There are 3 families of Andersons
living around them... Reuben B. 49, Ga;
Jonathan 33, Ga. Jonathan H. 28, Ala. Can
anyone shed any light on these families... In
1860 James Madison Smith 27, states he was
born in Marengo Co., Als. living with his is
his wife Josephine and son William and also
his brother William S. Smith....also born in
Marengo Co..... 1840 Census shows several
Smith and Anderson families... Would love
to know which is the father of these boys..
Also on the 1860 Census of Clarke Co., shows
next door is Ivy S. Smith age 25 and his
brother Albert 21 and Ivy's wife, Sarah...and
their children William 3 and Nathan 5months..
Ivy and Albert both born in Marengo Co.
