The Jefferson family came from England to St. Kitt in the mid-1600s then to Virginia. My line settled in Nashville in the early 1800s. Later, 2 sons, John Robertson Jefferson and my great-grandfather, Peter Field Jefferson, settled in Clinton, MS. Peter Field's son, John Magruder Jefferson, an attorney, later came to Hale Co., AL, and married Lucy Avery Williams around 1890. Lucy was the daughter of Capt. Jonathan Whitehead Williams (CSA). Jonathan's father was a Charles Williams. The Williams, Stewart, Smith and Harris families were all connected somehow. They mostly resided in Hale or Greene Co., AL. Is this the same Stewart family as yours?
