I am searching for William Dukes (Duke) of Lowndes County Alabama. William's son was my GGreat Grandfather, James Sanders Dukes. James is listed as a son on the 1850 Federal Census. He is listed as James Dokey on the 1860 Federal Census in Lowndes County. I know that he served in the Civil War and after the war married Frances E. Dozier Hooks, widow of Thomas J Hooks. She is listed as his spouse in the 1870 Federal Census for Pike County, Alabama. James Sanders Dukes (Duke) had two sons, James Lee Dukes (Duke) and Ewell Burton Dukes (Duke). I have found information on Ewell Dukes such as his wife's name and many of his children.James Sanders Dukes is listed as living in Macon County Alabama on the 1880 Federal Census. At this time, he is a widower with two small sons. I would appreciate any information I could obtain on William Dukes (Duke), his wife's name, his parents names, and any children information. Also, any information available on James Sanders Dukes (Duke).
