I'm seeking marriage record for James R. Carroll who married 1860-1870 Mattie or Mary Davis Chester, a widow, in Macon Co., Ala.
James R. Carroll enlisted in 1861 in Hardway's Artillery Corp, McIntosh's Battalion of Ala. Artillery, serving until Lee's surrender in 1865.
After the Civil War James and his family (with stepson John (T.C.)Chester to St.Clair Co., Ala. By 1900 Carroll had moved to Texas, where he died Jasper Co.,Tx.in 1920.
Help in locating Macon/Tallapoosa Co. marriage records would be appreciated. Subscription Ancestry.com appears to be the only on-line source for 1850 census and marriage records.
