Betty,
My David was either the son of a Joseph, or another David, - (brothers, and sons of yet another David, b. VA 1725/6, d. NC 1814) - who both went from Lincoln Co., NC to Maury Co., TN by 1810/11. Joseph was in Giles Co.,TN before 1820. He had a daughter, Betsy, and a son, Millington, plus abt. 5 other children. ( I don't have names). Joseph d. in Lauderdale Co., AL abt. 1830, according to one source. The elder David had, {still in Maury in 1820} (at least) 9 children, but his family does not claim 'my ' David. "My" David's son, Joseph Thomas Abernathy, was b. TN 1823, had brothers; Meredith and Coleman, and several sisters, as well. Pretty sure he did not have a brother named Calhoun. Note: This line goes back to Robert Abernathy, a Scot, and a British
Prisoner of War, who was "banished to the Colonies" (to VA in 1652), served a 5 year sentence (indentured servant), released, and then acquired land, married, etc. That's all I have. Let me know if this helps you, or if you can help me in any way.... Thanks, OCF
