Looking for info on descendants of Newsom Taunton (b. c1806, GA), who married Mary Mathis/Matthews (b. c1806, GA) in Crawford Co., GA in Dec. 1829. They had two children: Willborn Taunton (b. c1836, GA) and Mary Taunton (b. before 1850, AL). Between 1830 and 1840, Newsom and Mary moved to Macon Co., AL, where they were listed in the 1840 and 1850 censuses, but the entire family disappeared after that. Does anyone know where they went? How about who Mary Mathis/Matthews’ parents might be? Was she a daughter of John Matthews/Mathis, who was listed next door to Newsom and Mary in the 1830 census of Crawford Co., GA? Please let me know if you recognize any of these individuals.
