I am researching my mother's family history. My mother was born Mary Lee German in 1911 in Elmore, AL.;died in 1968 in B'ham, AL. Her mother was Curlevia Jackson, born around 1876;she died in 1956 or 1957 in Montgomery,AL;married Ben German(Jermans),born around 1877 in AL. My grandparents were married Oct. 23,1896 in Steep Creek, Lowndes, AL. They later moved to Elmore,Al. When I visited the area as a child, it was called Speigner and Sweeting(?).
My grandmother Curlevia's father was Griffin Jackson, born 1855;died Jan.1917 in Elmore,Al. The 1880 Cenus lists his wife as Texas Jackson.
My grandmother had two sisters:
1)Peggy Jackson(1859)-married Silas Fields in 1875 in Montgomery,AL.
2) Misho Jackson,1878,who married Bennie Harris.
I also located a poss. family member in the 1880 Census in Old Town, Dallas, AL. Her name is listed as Jinny Jackson, born 1845. Her children: General,Anna,Toot, and Mattie Jackson. Even though they are listed as MU, I am wondering if they were actually Indian.
I am trying to determine if there are any of their relatives still living in Lowndes, AL. Most of the family lives around Millbrook,Wetumpka, and Deatsville,Montgomery, and Selma, AL
Related surnames: Cotton, Fields, Buffins, Phillips, Jones, Wesley,Wells,Shepherd,Avery,Harris,Smoke,Reese, and Wells.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
