Mark - I decided to look at the 1860 census and here is what's weird. There are two families of Thorns with almost identical names living in franklin Co. in 1860. The one I sent for 1870 is listed thus in 1860.
Family No. 478
Chas. Q. age 33; Elizabeth age 30; Milton c. age 11, Emaline age 9; Mary C. age 7; David 6; James M. age 5; Francis age 4 and Samantha age 2.

In Family No. 567
C. Q Thorn age 23; Eliz. C. age 33; Catharine e. age 8; Mary C. age 7; David age 6; James M. age 4; Francis age 2 and Samantha R. age 0

I also looked at the 1850 census and the whole census sheet was filled with various Thorns. I wil be happy to send you a copy of that sheet by Email atachment if you would like it.
