Beechwood School in Coxey AL Fielding, Davis
Posted by: Pamela Davis (ID *****0239) Date: June 04, 2010 at 18:01:53

I have a copy of a photo that appeared in the Athens, AL NEWS COURIER on Sept. 16, 1988 of Beechwood School. The photo was taken in 1914. This school was located in the Coxey community near the intersection of Snake Road and what is now Fielding Road. The people in the photo in front of the school are all named and include several surnames including Fielding, Davis, Ball, Williams, Easter, Hudson, Weir, Christopher, Weir, Thompson, McElyea, Smith, King, Clements, Brown, Kemp, Gilbert, Hardy, Daniel, and Meadows.

Any information on the history of this school would be appreciated. I know that the school is no longer standing. I can E-mail the photo to you if you want. If you have access to a better copy of the photo than the newspaper one that I have, I would like to have it since many of the people are close relatives.
