Maybe they can steer you in the right direction. Perhaps there are some abstracts of local church records. You could also contact The Genealogical Society of East Alabama, contact info:

Lastly, you can search the catalog of Alabama State Archives:

Just a cursory search produced quite a few records. In fact, one collection of Alabama church records takes up 54 cu ft., that's a lot of space! I would guess that you need first to determine exactly what church record you're interested in and proceed from there. Also, you might check the LDS online catalog and see if they have microfilmed any area church records.
