Information found at www.cdfms.org/baldwyn states that
Baldwyn MS, location in NE part of state just north of
Tupelo, is an outgrowth of the village of Carrollville.
When the railroad was built 1848-1861, it missed
Carrollville by 1 1/2 miles so the people moved to
the railroad, thus Baldwyn was founded.
