DESPERATE NEED FOR VOLUNTEER LOOKUP
Posted by: Paula Dunklin (ID *****6365) Date: June 27, 2010 at 10:41:56

I am in desperate need of a lookup concerning the marriage of my great Gfather. They were married in Lawrence Co AL in 1870. I am willing to pay reasonable expense if someone is willing to go to the courthouse and look at this record for me. I had this information at one time but lost it.

Marriage of:
ABRAM WILSON & SARAH J. NESMITH
OCTOBER ?? 1870
Recorded in Marriage Book F; page 5

With the copy that I first received was also a copy of 2 notes sent to the probate judge where Robert Martin Nesmith & Sarah M Nesmith gave their permission for the marriage of Sarah Jane.

Also included was a note from someone who appears to be H.H.Crosby and S.E. Crosby giving their consent for Abram Wilson to marry Sarah Jane.

What I really need is someone to look at the original marriage license and notes to see exactly what the names for Abram say; is it really H.H. Crosby or H.W. Crosby or is the name COSBY instead of Crosby. What I have is a transcribers interpretation of the initials & surname and I really need to know the exact, correct name shown on the original note. There is a lot of differences over this question among those researching this line. Until I find out, I'm not sure which line to persue....Cosby or Crosby.

So...H.H. or H.W.; CROSBY or COSBY.

Hopefully, someone can help me out as I live in TX and can not travel to AL.

My Thanks,
Paula
