It has been awhile since you posted, but in case you still need info. on William Elkins of Georgia, here is a base. I descend from Erwin Elkins s/o William.
William Elkins b. 185? VA d. 1828 Ga. He md 1st Elizabeth East, 24 Dec 1783 Henry Co. VA. Elizabeth died ca 1808/9. She was the mother of his children. He md 2nd Amelia Garrett, widow of James Garrett. Known children of William & Elizabeth:
1. Nancy Elkins b ca 1785 Martinsville, Henry Co. VA m.
1805 Alexander Carruth, moved to Lawrence Co. AL
ca1830, is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lawrence Co. AL
2. Thomas Elkins b ca 1788 m Martinsville, Henry Co. VA,
13 Mar 1809, Oglethorpe Co. GA. Nancy Ann Pope. Went to
Lawrence Co. AL d 1865 also buried Mt. Hope Cem. To
Lawrence Co. by 1830.
3. Joseph Elkins b ca 1791, Martinsville, Henry Co. VA md 4
Feb 1812, Oglethorpe Co. GA Fannie Allen. To Lawrence
Co.AL by 1830, also buried Mt. Hope Cem.
4. Erwin Elkins b ca 1799/1800 Oglethorpe Co. GA md. 19 Dec
1819, Oglethorpe Co. GA, Elizabeth "Betsy" Garrett. She
was daughter of his stepmother, who did not approve of
this marriage. They were in Lawrence Co Al for awhile.
Their son Benjamin gives his birth place as GA, MS &
AL. He is my line. By 1850 Erwin Elkins and his family
were in Kemper Co. MS
5. Fanny Elkins b. Oglethorpe Co. GA m 1826 Robert Lester,
no further info.
6. James Elkins b 1807, Oglethorpe Co. GA m 28 Dec 1832
