BROOKS of LAWRENCE CO< AL I have many descendants and the ancestry back to 1747 of the George J. BROOKS who came to Lawrence Co, AL, Aldridge Grove area about 1894. He had 11 children, most were married in Marshall Co, and came with George in a large wagon train. Their names and spouses were: Nancy E. Brooks 1841 m Willis Street Slaton Sr. Many Slaten/Slaton desc. Mary E. Brooks, 1842died young, spouse unknown. Sarah A. M. Brooks 1844 Gilmer, GA m Sanford W. Hartline 1869 in Cherokee Co, AL and remained there to raise her family of Hartlines. Rev. David H. Brooks 1846-1917 m Amanda Tucker and remained in Asbury, Marshall Co, AL to raise their family. Hannah Caroline Brooks 1848-1909 m Richard Tucker 1873 in Marshall Co, removed to Lawrence Co, AL. Senia Malissa Brooks 1849-1936 married James Webster Bell and has many BELL desc in Piney Grove, Lawrence/Morgan Co. Martha C. Brooks 1852-1938 m Alexander Douglas Jones in 1873 Marshall Co, AL and removed to Birmingham, Jefferson Co, AL. Has a few Jones desc. George Landon Brooks 1854-1938, married Louvenia BELL 1873 died in Hartselle and is bur at New Center Cem, Morgan Co, AL. Has many Brooks desc in Red Hill area of Lawrence Co. John A. Brooks 1856-1935 m Mary Rodgers 1874 Marshall Co, AL and has many desc in Lawrence, Morgan Co, FL and elsewhere. Some of these desc meet for lunch at Barnhills in Decatur, first Wed of each month. We are looking for more Brooks desc to join us to swap photos and stories. These include desc of Rev David Brooks formerly of Morris Chapel area and Plant City, FL. == Two more sons of George removed to Franklin Co, AL, Burleson Dist before 1900. They are: Charles N. Brooks 1859-ca 1950 m Nancy Lorraine Rogers Marshall Co, AL. Probably the sister of Mary Rodgers (above) William H. Brooks 1864-1910 m Minerva Townsend 1881 Marshall Co, AL.
