JEANENE,
SORRY, I DO NOT KNOW THE PARENTS OF EITHER. WILLIAM LACKEY ARRIVED IN THE US (FROM IRELAND) AT BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA IN 1772 AT THE AGE OF 18. HE WAS THERE UNTIL 1774, WHEN HE MOVED TO ROWAN COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. HE WAS A VOLUNTEER AND WAS IN AND OUT OF THE WAR FROM 1775- 1780. IN OCTOBER 1781, HE MARRIED ELIZABETH WHITE IN SALISBURY, ROWAN COUNTY. FROM THE CLOSE OF THE WAR UNTIL 1814 HE LIVED IN IREDELL COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. HE THEN MOVED TO MAURY COUNTY, TENNESSEE, WHERE HE LIVED UNTIL 1822. HE THEN MOVED TO MOUNT HOPE, LAWRENCE CO., ALABAMA, WHERE HE LIVED UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1848. ELIZABETH DIED IN 1855. THEY ARE BURIED IN ROCK SPRINGS CEMETERY, LAWRENCE COUNTY, ALABAMA. ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO WE COMPILED A BOOK ON THIS FAMILY. IT IS NAMED "WINDMILLS WEST". SEVERAL LIBRARIES HAVE A COPY OF IT.
ELIZABETH'S BROTHER ANDREW NEVER MARRIED. HE ALSO DIED IN LAWRENCE COUNTY, ALABAMA.
IF YOU LEARN ANYTHING OF THEIR ANCESTRY, I'D LOVE TO KNOW. THERE WERE A NUMBER OF FAMILIES NAMED WHITE. I ALSO DESCEND FROM A WHITE FAMILY FROM EDGECOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH MY MOTHER'S LINE.
MARCIA
