Debra I don't live in Alabama but I found this Jones Crossroads was the original name of Vina, AL Vina is in Franklin Co. AL where Hwy 23 crosses state Hwy 19 Originally called Jones Crossroads for a local family. Later known as New Burleson because it is near the dead town Burleson which was also named for a local family, then it became Vina by an engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad for his wife, Vina. established in 1907. doesn't say specifically which families. from " Place Names in Alabama" by Virginia O. Foscue. Angela Jones Harlan Notify Administrator about this message?
