Margaret Owens is my cousin. She has posted a lot of the Stokes information, although I have some updated information since I shared it. The big problem is to find PROOF that Jospehus is "my" Josephus. As you saw I am also looking for proof on Hiram so I expect to do more research in the Lawrence Co. area. Levi Stokes is my connection and he, along with the other 7 oldest children, is well documented.

Josephus and Emma Stokes apparently had 6 children according to the Census records I found. There are 3 living with Emma in the 1910 and 1920 censuses. I can't make out the name of son b abt 1894, There is an Elmer b. about 1897, and a daughter Ami? b. abt 1899.

There are also possible siblings of Young Stokes; but again those of us researching them haven't found documented links, just good possibilities.

If I make a breakthrough I will let you know.
